myDJ.ie started life as a company called Direct Audio Services way back in 1986 providing a professional DJ service to bars, nightclubs and venues nationwide. During our time providing professional DJ's to Ireland's most prestigious venues we were approached on several occasions from venue managers to provide them with a background music service for times when DJs were not playing - enter the DAS Background Music Service.
The first version of the DAS background music service consisted of a customised music compilation on minidisc made from our DJ's playlist from the venue in question. This allowed us a unique understanding of the venues customers and proved a success from the beginning. Eventually, we moved format from minidisc to customised CD.
In 2001, Direct Audio Services embraced the digital age with the introduction of our proprietary "Digiplayer". This was a bespoke media player, offering a unique solution, a fully scalable background music service with "commercial radio station programming" - in short this meant our clients now have the option of branding their music output, essentially providing them with their own radio station!
Very soon we realised how poorly the retail market was being served, and we developed our service further to enable online maintenance and programming. This allowed us to instantly react to client needs, uploading new music from our server, within minutes of requests, proved a big hit. It became obvious that the DJ and the Music businesses were becoming very seperate yet complimentary businesses.
With growth came challenges, and we soon realised that our initial customer base attained from our DJ service (which we had a clear understanding of what their customers wanted to hear) had grown. In fact, we had begun to grow into other market segments, namely retail - slightly different than a bar/hotel. So, to ensure our background music formatting was as accurate and effective as it had been previously, we developed a key questionnaire which is used to gain a clear understanding of customer business goals, customer target markets and what our customers want to achieve when using the DAS digiplayer. This has proved highly effective and we continue to grow our professional DJ service and background music service year on year.
